World Championships Camp

  OMS Alpine World Champs Camp

For the first time in 16 years the FIS Alpine World Championships are back in the United States. We would like to give our student-athletes the opportunity to not only get in more great Rocky Mountain training, but also watch the best ski racers in the world on our home turf.  This is only the sixth time in the eighty-four year history of the FIS Alpine World Championships in which the event is being held in the United States.

The camp will be open to athletes U14-U18.  The student-athletes will spend their days training and freeskiing, as well as watching the exciting World Championship competition!  There will be a 2 hour study hall each night, so that student-athletes will be able to complete work sent from their teachers.

Tentative Schedule:

February 10-Travel day to Denver International Airport

February 11- Free ski/training.  Venue TBD

February 12- Womens Alpine World Championships Giant Slalom @ Beaver Creek/Drills and free skiing

February 13-Mens Alpine World Championships Giant Slalom @ Beaver Creek/drills and free skiing

February 14-Womens Alpine World Championships Slalom @ Beaver Creek/drills and free skiing

February 15- Mens Alpine World Championships Slalom @ Beaver Creek/drills and free skiing.  Awards and closing ceremonies in the evening

February 16- Travel day back to Vermont.

We are looking at an estimated cost of somewhere between $1600 and $2200 for the trip which includes:

~Airfare
~Lodging
~Breakfast and Dinner (lunch at the mountain on their own)
~Lift Tickets
~Ground transportation

This could possibly be a once in a lifetime chance for all our student-athletes to be able to watch the best in the world competing in the biggest FIS World Cup event that only happens every two years.

If you are interested in this trip for your student-athlete please contact Rob Burke (rburke@okemomountainschool.org) by January 5th to indicate your interest, if you have not already done so.  A cost for the camp will be set on the 5th, and everyone who has expressed interest in the camp will get an email that night. A deposit will be required shortly after.
