Today the weather man was just plan wrong. Wind and snow came back and the
hill was boiler plate and wind blown. We set a GS a little lower down the
trail to get out of the wind blown crud. Athletes stayed positive and
trained really hard. Coaches wanted a much easier piste for the first day
of GS this season but that was not going to be the case. We were really
proud of how the athletes trained hard despite probably some of the
toughest conditions they will see this season!
Camp has been nothing but positive, athletes all know what to focus on in
there skiing and are asking good questions which proves it's working. We
head back to VT tomorrow and I think most are ready to be HOME!!!

FREE SKI DAY

The team had a day to just go and ski!!! We were concerned with the storm coming through so we stayed at Loveland without complaint. The conditions are outstanding here and we are hesitant to look elsewhere!!!! We were able to get the morning in before the real hard snow hit. Visibility not so good but some western freshies for the kids:)
From the Lane meeting tonight we should be able to stick to plan and start gate drills tomorrow afternoon. Athletes will train Sl flush drill with brushes at the top section. Then we will set open rhythm course on the lower part of the lane. So here we GO!!!
We have goal sheets out tonight for athletes to begin to think about the whole season! We also took some Boots by Pearson Neal's pad and softened up!! Big difference for one athlete. BIG THANKS to Pearson for letting us use his tools and Space!!! Willy Ford was also there and asked to ski with us!!! YAHOO
Added a couple pics of us and ski team members. I knew Nick from Stratton and Eli was Rob's Bagel buddy at Middlebury, Never know who you will see out west.

Back on snow!!!

We took Thursday off and one athlete Quin headed to Boulder to check out a possible Western College! The rest of us shopped the outlets and went to see the Ski team train. We were bummed that Bode and Ted were not there as we were told they would be, but we were able to get some autographs and pics with D and C team members. One of these guys could be the next ONE!!!!
Today we headed back to Loveland and worked GS drills. Snow was good but many people due to Veterans day!!! After lunch we were able to use some new open terrain and get some things done. The J3 squad decided to check out the continental Divide!!!
Hope these are not upside down!!!!

We were headed to Vail tomorrow but looks as if this storm may keep us at Loveland or off snow totally
6-16inches with 70 mile hr gusts:(
We will see what tomorrow brings. Then we start are Lane training Sunday afternoon.

Day 4 CO

Athletes headed back to Loveland today to free ski GS. Snow was great. It was 0 degrees but no wind so felt fine. Coaches set up a video station and filmed athletes to show them if they are keeping ankle flexion through the whole transition. Then went over and spyed the lanes we will have to end the camp next week. They look great firm eastern snow conditions for sure. After lunch some stayed to study and most went to the Rec center for Wally ball Brucie Ball and a swim!!
Both Rainie and KC beat up on coach Bruce and I was on their team.We head to the Mint tonight so the kids can cook their own Steaks. Tomorrows Day off will consist of a trip to Boulder or a hang out and shop the Malls here. Then at 1pm we will head over to Loveland and watch Ted and Bode train. Autographs for SURE!!!!

Colorado Camp 2011

Hello all we are here at Loveland at 11,000FT. We had a great trip to CO and hit winter just before the Loveland pass. We sat in a traffic jam for about an hour but no so bad considering. Snow is amazing and all the locals saying it's icy:) Silly western folks. Good hard eastern snow perfect for early season training. Lots of academies and ski teams training.
The athletes are all working hard on the task or focus of this camp-Athletic stance! We have moved from the feet to the ankles and will continue with the hips in the AM on GS skis.

Team is in Colorado! Winter is on!

A group of OMS students, coaches and teachers recently traveled to Colorado for an early season training session.  The snow is on the ground and the skiers are on the hill.
